It is going to be a celebration. However, I have documented Mikey as a 24-year-old with braces and me with greasy bangs.

Now, it is funny that Matt's blog contains his great Saturday, because I'm about to do the same thing. I had the greatest day on Saturday.

I woke up and made a grocery list and dragged Mikey to the Boulder farmers' market so that he could look at fresh, delicious foods and not eat them. I bought vidalia onions, garlic, and a basil plant. I also ate a delicious spring roll with peanut sauce. And I ate it under a tree. Boulder. Later, Mikey and I went to the outdoor cinema behind the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. We brought captain's chairs and a cooler of beer, Babybel cheeses, and Wasa crackers. Diet Coke was only $1! The movie (School of Rock) was cute, the weather mild, and the boyfriend entertained. It was perfect. We had the most Boulder day ever.

I am going to make hoisin grilled fish and vegetables for my last dinner before I go back to cooking completely vegetarian because Mikey can eat again.

KimRisk

The exciting news for today is that I was offered a new job and accepted it. I will be an administrative assistant for a company in northeast Boulder called, ChemRisk. They describe themselves on the website as "a consulting firm providing state-of-the-art toxicology, industrial hygiene, epidemiology, and risk assessment services to organizations that confront public health, occupational health, and environmental challenges."

My position is an administrative assistant, which to me, sounds like a step down from my current "patent administrator" title. However, the work looks like it will be much more interesting, and is definitely more lucrative--20% more lucrative, that is. Hooray for not having to deny myself bluegrass festivals or drinks because of poverty! They don't have an administrative position right now, so I will get to create my position to some extent. I will assist each of the epidemiologists or toxicologists, or the SUPER nerd math guy, in their respective projects, which might include research on the subject of their topic. They also said I would get to do some editing and proofreading of publications and presentations, and there is little I like more than correcting scientists' grammar, or anyone's. This thought leads me to the best part of my getting a new job: graduate school. Since I will be making 20% more than I am now, I will be able to pay of my titanic debt at a faster rate, and thus attend graduate school sooner.

I am pretty much set on studying linguistics now. It's one of the things that gets me really excited when I talk or think about it. I'm getting excited now, but the "whys" and "hows" of language generally bore everyone else so I won't go on. I still want to write fiction, and I will publish a novel, but I'm not going to center my life around it like I thought I had to. It will just be a slower process, and I have time.

Please note my wonderful pun of a title. I can't get over it.

All I think about is food.

I have become the best health food cook ever. And when I say ever, I mean ever, because as everyone knows, I never exaggerate. I started a diet this week because I had to go buy a new outfit for an interview and realized I've been completely unaware that I got chubby for like, a year. Also, Carl called me fat at Bonnie's art opening. Jerk. But it's been surprisingly fun experiementing with food. I went crazy with all my Self, Shape, and Fitness magazines and spent at least 12 hours total cutting out all the recipes and workout exercises I could see me self enjoying, or at least enduring, and I put them in my respective recipe and workout books. This made me feel like a I might be going insane again, because I only do things like that when I am trying to distract myself from things that are too stressful to think about. Maybe it was Mikey's face.

Now that I am finished with the books for the month (only 2 weeks until August issues are out), the result has been a colorful palate of healthful nourriture. I made spinach linguine with squash, zucchini, and red peppers with a cream sauce made from nonfat Greek yogurt rather than cream. It was terribly bland, but so low in calories that I could imagine it being really tasty, plus I added shitload of pepper and basil. Then I ate it for dinner four nights in a row. My breakfasts are the best, though. I made a spinach and feta omelet this morning, and I've been having lemon yogurt, blueberry, and granola parfaits. I'm out of control. As much as I'm sure everyone totally wants to know what I eat for every meal, that's all I care about right now. I have to find something better to think about--like working out. I haven't gotten to the working out for a couple weeks because I feel like if I leave Mikey he will die or his nose will heal wrongly. It's time for him to go back to work.

I'm totally depressed I didn't get to see Counting Crows on Thursday. I hope Lindy, Cassie, and Willie are rolling in hippies and mead in Telluride. However, I continue to look forward to Austin City Limits, which will feature The Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Arcade Fire, Wilco, The Killers, The White Stripes, Bob Dylan, Ben Kweller, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Queens of the Stone Age, Joss Stone, and more. Everyone should come. Road trip.

MIKEY UPDATE: His nose bridge came off Friday. His nose is still swollen, so I can't tell if it's going to look the same, but I must say, it looks a bit crooked. Watch for the break up if it is! Kidding mostly.
Also, he gets his jaws unwired 3 July and is going to eat a steak despite 4 years of vegetarianism.

I just want something under my name on the ERAS blog.

I'm the best.
